It's fantastic news that Great Yarmouth Borough Council have been successful in securing funding from the Future High Streets Fund.
The Future High Streets Fund will provide £675 million of funding nationwide to help local areas to respond to and adapt to changes. It will support local areas to prepare long-term strategies for their high streets and town centres, including funding a new High Streets Taskforce to provide expertise and hands-on support to local areas and it will also then co-fund with local areas projects.
I've supported Great Yarmouth Borough Council throughout the application for the Future High Streets fund, meeting with senior Council Members to discuss and review the application, and writing a strong letter of support to the Secretary of State at the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government.
I am delighted that Great Yarmouth has been chosen as one of the areas to receive funding from the Future High Streets Fund. Great Yarmouth Borough Council put together a comprehensive, ambitious plan for Great Yarmouth, which will generate renewed pride in our town and build confidence for the future. The Council have seized the opportunity that the Future High Streets Fund offers and I look forward to continuing to work closely with them on the next stages of this project to make Great Yarmouth an even more vibrant place for people to live, work and visit.
