Whilst the Labour Party scratches its head as to why it was so comprehensively defeated at the recent General Election, the Conservative team are out talking to residents about the issues that matter to them. Today, I joined dedicated activists as we knocked on doors across the Claydon Ward managing to speak to over 500 residents. We had lots of conversations about crime and policing, in a week when we announced a massive new investment in our police forces. This will see the recruitment of an extra 20,000 police officers and the introduction of new powers that they need to tackle crime.
And where is the Labour Party? Well, they are still complaining that those residents who voted Conservative and to "Get Brexit Done" were plain wrong. They also think they had popular policies and Jeremy Corbyn scored 10/10 as Party Leader. Perhaps, they should spend some time listening to the views out there on the streets of Gorleston, places like Common Road, Frederick Road or Harfrey's Road to understand why they are so wrong.
