Bus passengers across the Great Yarmouth constituency will continue to benefit from the £2 bus fare cap thanks to the Conservative Government’s long-term decision to redirect HS2 funding.
Buses are vital to people across Great Yarmouth and keeping the cost of fares down will make a real difference to the lives of the millions of people who use them every day. The bus fare cap had been due to rise to £2.50 but because of this reinvestment decision, I am delighted the Conservative Government can extend the much-loved £2 bus fare cap across most of England. This will help people to keep costs down, as the Conservatives take the long-term decisions to halve inflation, grow the economy, and reduce debt.
Buses are the most popular form of public transport and help people across Norfolk get to work, attend medical appointments, and see loved ones – that’s why we are extending the ‘Get Around for £2’ scheme to 31 December 2024.
