First World War Tribute

Did you know the person behind some of our country’s biggest national celebrations – including the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and the Fly the Flag for our Armed Forces – is a Gorleston resident?

As Pageant Master, Bruno Peek is the man responsible for the detailed organisation behind the events when our country comes together to remember the past. As we get closer to the centenary of the end of World War One, Bruno is preparing a tribute of remembrance on 11th November called the Battle’s Over. The national commemorations will include the lighting of over 1,000 beacons of light symbolising an end to the darkness of war and a return to the light of peace. And cathedrals and churches, including Great Yarmouth Minster, will ring their bells in celebration of peace.

I am sure there will be many events within the Great Yarmouth constituency recognising the importance of this centenary, giving us all an opportunity to remember those sacrifices that were made, both on the battlefields and on the home front, so that we can continue to enjoy freedom. You can find out more about all of the events planned so far on the Pageant Master website.
