Understandably, the future of the old Pontins site in Hemsby, has long been the subject of debate in the village and across the borough. The 22-acre site is a long-term eyesore in the village, and I know how frustrated residents are at seeing the camp deteriorate over nearly a decade.
We rightly celebrate one of Great Yarmouth’s most famous sons – James Paget – by naming our local hospital after this eminent surgeon and pathologist. From the humblest of backgrounds, he became a pioneer in the medical profession and surgeon to Queen Victoria.
More jobs is the key for greater prosperity for families across the Great Yarmouth constituency. That’s why I’ve consistently supported government policies that encourage investment into the area.
Great Yarmouth has enormous economic potential and with more and more businesses attracted to the area, industry agrees. That’s why improving transport links in the town is such an important issue.
This week I formally objected to the application to extend dredging off the Winterton coast because of serious concerns about the long-term impact on coastal erosion.
