Whilst both Parliamentary and ministerial activities are almost entirely dominated by Brexit, there are still opportunities to discuss other important issues. In between meetings, I was able to spend time with members of the Royal British Legion at a reception in the House of Commons. I thanked them for all the work their members and supporters do to raise funds to support members of the armed forces, veterans and families. Although everyone knows about the annual Poppy Appeal, they work all year round to raise funds, but also have a focus on providing welfare support.
In Great Yarmouth, the amazing work the legion does is recognised by them having the Freedom of the Borough. This financial year they’ve already raised over £42,000 that will help many in need. If you wish to support their work in the Great Yarmouth area, you can contact them here.
