Yet again Great Yarmouth residents are experiencing a poor rail service provided by Greater Anglia. Anyone travelling to Norwich, and beyond to London Liverpool Street, will know how often there are delays, disruption and cancellations.
These problems have been ongoing for a significant time. Even the roll-out of new trains hasn't resulted in any real improvement in service. Every week I receive correspondence from constituents explaining how they have missed meetings or arrived late to work because of this poor train service. Many consider the journey between Great Yarmouth and Norwich as so unreliable they resort to travelling by bus or car. This is a vicious circle, where people will be driven off our trains never to return, seeing travelling by road as more reliable and convenient.
With many people commuting to Norwich, and our area being a popular tourist destination, the Great Yarmouth to Norwich line should be extremely popular. It saddens me that this is not the case. Once more, I've written to both Greater Anglia and Network Rail (who are as responsible for the poor service) demanding an action plan of improvements.
