The UK has always been a global leader in tackling climate change – from being the first country to raise it on the international stage, to cutting emissions faster than all major economies and quadrupling renewable electricity.
We want to continue our global leadership and that’s why we are introducing a legally binding net zero emissions target to end the UK’s contribution to global warming entirely by 2050. We can do this by investing in clean growth and ensuring we reap the rewards and create new high-quality jobs. As our reliance on fossil fuels diminishes, we can seize the opportunity of new offshore wind farms to create those jobs in Great Yarmouth. This support for offshore renewable technologies can create a cleaner, greener future for generations to come. And allied with new climate change laws it means we can achieve 100 per cent net zero emissions.
