Last week, the Chancellor of the Exchequer urged the British public to support our restaurants, cafe and pubs by eating out to help out. In Great Yarmouth, we have so many great small businesses that will rely on local people popping in for a bite to eat over the next few months. These businesses have had a hard time during the virus lockdown and we can make sure that they reopen and can survive through these uncertain times by demonstrating how important they are to our area.
A great way to show your support is by taking advantage of the government-backed "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme throughout August. Monday to Wednesday for the month of August we can receive up to 50 per cent off food and non-alcoholic drinks, up to a value of £10 per person.
Nothing like this has ever been done in this country before. Giving people up to 50 per cent off meals out will encourage them back into restaurants, cafes and pubs. Businesses can claim the money back from the government weekly, receiving funds within 5 working days.
All the information and guidance businesses require to be part of the scheme is now available from the HMRC here.If you have a favourite place you enjoying eating out then encourage them to sign up to the "Eat Out to Help Out" scheme to give them a boost throughout August.
