This was my first meeting with the local police team since my re-election. As a Home Office minister, I am particularly interested in crime and policing issues in the Great Yarmouth constituency. That's why I have these regular meetings with the excellent local policing team, as well as Norfolk's Police and Crime Commissioner and the Chief Constable. These meetings give me an opportunity to raise with officers the issues that concern residents in their local communities. At the same time, the police can update with their plans for policing in the area.
During the General Election campaign, many people asked me about community policing and how we can make people feel safer in our neighbourhoods. I will shortly launch a new 'Crime and Policing Survey' so that residents can let me know their views on this vital issue.
