MPs debate our country's living standards

What an odd topic for the Labour Party to choose to debate. After all, the squeeze on the living standards of millions in this country is a direct result of the need to pay off the nation’s debt that Labour carelessly allowed get out of control. As Member of Parliament for a coastal community it is ironic that Labour wish to talk about living standards when towns like ours suffered 13-years of neglect and under-investment.

High fuel prices are holding back economic growth

The debate in the House of Commons, on fuel prices, was an opportunity to highlight how high fuel prices are impacting on economic growth. Intervening during the debate, I explained how many companies in Great Yarmouth were reluctant to expand their businesses due to their fears about spiralling fuel prices. In Great Yarmouth, I know of several companies with the financial capital and the will to expand, but who are wary of making a commitment.
