Figures released by the House of Commons Library show that the number of people claiming unemployment benefits in Great Yarmouth in July 2013 was 3,101. This represents a reduction of 205 people since July 2012.
These figures are positive news for Great Yarmouth. While there is still a great deal to be done to get our economy back to where we want it, these figures show that things are moving in the right direction. With over 1,000,000 new private sector jobs created nationally since 2010 and growing interest in Great Yarmouth from the renewable energy sector, there are more and more things to feel positive about in our area. I shall continue to work for the interests of Great Yarmouth residents both in Westminster and locally to help attract more businesses and jobs.
