Report on Local Enterprise Partnerships

I had the pleasure last night to host the launch of a report on Local Enterprise Partnerships.  The report was put together by All Party Parliamentary Group on Local Growth.

For those that do not know, Local Enterprise Partnerships are one of the government’s most important tools for encouraging growth and job creation across the country.  The partnerships allow local businesses and the public sector to use their knowledge of their own areas to promote local economic growth.

The report offers a number of suggestions to the government on how the partnerships may be improved to make them even better vehicles for wealth and job creation in Great Yarmouth and elsewhere.

The report is based on the views of over eighty groups, bodies and businesses involved in local growth.  I was particularly pleased that the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government made the key note speech.  His attendance is a clear signal of how important the government see Local Enterprise Partnerships in the recovery of our economy.

The launch was very well attended and the evening was a success.  The government is already now implementing many of the recommendations of the report and I  am very much looking forward to the seeing our local partnership continue its excellent work in Great Yarmouth.
