Public health funding for Great Yarmouth!

The Government has announced planned budgets for public health spending for the next two years.  This money is awarded to councils across the UK to be spent on public health initiatives.  These can be anything from leisure centre improvements to the creation or funding of sports clubs.

This announcement is good news for Great Yarmouth.  The fund allocation for Great Yarmouth starts at £28,987.  This will then rise to £29,798 between 2013 and 2014.  Spending will increase again to £30,633 between 2014 and 2015.

I am delighted to hear that the government, in the wake of the success of the Olympic Games, is helping to boost sport and public health.  This is a real chance for Great Yarmouth Borough Council to be creative and introduce or support local public health initiatives.  This is fantastic news for Great Yarmouth, I look forward to seeing the fresh ideas for local people made possible with this funding.
