The Prime Minister, David Cameron, has expressed his delight at the news of the economic expansion of Great Yarmouth since 2010.
In a letter to me the Prime Minister said:
“I am delighted that the Local Enterprise Partnership for New Anglia has been successful and to hear that two companies based in the area, CIS Offshore and Proserv, have secured multi-million pound contracts providing new jobs and apprenticeships for the area.”
The letter from the Prime Minister was sent in response to my letter to him about the area last month.
I am very pleased by the Prime Minister’s appreciation of the great strides that Great Yarmouth has been taking since 2010. Indeed, my letter to him is now out of date, with unemployment falling 24% since March last year.
I have always committed to promoting Great Yarmouth at every possible opportunity and I shall continue to do so. There is so much to shout about in our area, whether it be our businesses exporting across the globe, our position as a national hub for off shore renewable energy, or our hugely successful tourist industry which delights millions of visitors every year. I shall continue to lobby the Government at the very highest levels for the best possible deal for Great Yarmouth, including inviting the Prime Minister and Secretaries of State to keep visiting the area.
