I have successfully persuaded Transport Minister Mike Penning MP, to hold a summit on the A47, a vital transport link. Every Norfolk MP as well as representatives from the County Council will be invited to attend, and it represents a brilliant opportunity to move the A47 up the priority list of central government.
I have been lobbying for this development for several months, and am a passionate advocate for the need to improve the A47. Hopefully this meeting will allow me to reinforce the case for the A47 to be upgraded to a priority road. If upgraded it would make the road eligible for new funding streams including EU cash.
I am pleased that the minister has agreed to arrange this meeting. I will be encouraging my Norfolk Parliamentary colleagues to attend so that we present a united front in our attempts to get this vital part of Norfolk’s transport nervous system improved.
