Libraries safe in Norfolk

Libraries are a vital service and are the cornerstone of many of our communities. I am delighted to see that Norfolk County Council has publically committed to keeping all of Norfolk’s 50+ libraries open. Norfolk is however intending to change the opening hours of most of the libraries. I have spoken to many residents who are pleased that the council has been able to preserve these vital institutions, by proactively reducing waste and inefficiency within the council itself, meaning that there is only limited impact on frontline services.

I am pleased to say that the Council is not making these changes arbitrarily; instead they are seeking to engage residents in this process and have set up an online survey to allow residents to express their views. If you have any opinions please visit and let the council know! The direct link to the consultation is www.surveymonkey.com/norfolk-libraries-consultation.

Also if groups or individuals wish to discuss ways they can support their local library they can contact Jennifer Holland, Head of Libraries by writing to Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich NR1 2UA or emailing jennifer.holland@norfolk.gov.uk.
