Radio Broadcaster Nick Conrad and I are hosting a charity football match in aid of Caister Lifeboat and Save Hemsby Coastline.
Following the success of the football match earlier this year, we have decided to hold a similar event, this time at Flegg High School, on 29th August.
Donations will be raised for the two causes through payments by the players and collection buckets on the day. Local businesses are also being invited to sponsor a section of the pitch.
Our team, which will be made up of Members of Parliament, journalists and parliamentary staff, will play volunteers from the local lifeboat teams and Save Hemsby Coastline.
I am really looking forward to hosting another charity football match in aid of these two fantastic causes. We raised over £1,000 earlier this year for the EDP Flood Appeal. I would love to beat that figure this time around. I hope that local residents will come along again to enjoy the spectacle, pick a team and cheer them on.
Nick Conrad has said: “I’m delighted to be teaming up with Brandon again on the football field. Last time out, verses the Emergency Services, we were on the end of a old fashioned hiding…This time I’m hoping for a win! Everyday I speak to listeners whose homes are threatened by the very real threat of coastal erosion – this is a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness and money for a good cause. Caister Lifeboat has my total support. Without the might of the RNLI they tirelessly fund raise to keep that stretch of the North Sea safe. I’m delighted to support them!”
