Call for more house building

It’s alarming to hear the housing market in Norfolk is becoming so inaccessible to first time buyers. Developers should take advantage of new rules to help them build more affordable homes.

The fact is that not enough affordable homes are being built. Currently supply comes nowhere near to the demand; as such, prices inevitably rise and with need for larger deposits, many families will struggle to buy their own home
Although it is important that we ensure that homes are constructed in manner that is sensitive to the environment and existing communities; we need to kick start this industry. I am hopeful that the Government’s new National Planning Policy Framework, will help to do this. It will sweep away the restriction preventing sensible developments, whilst retaining the necessary safeguards.
