I have received a lot of correspondence from constituents regarding the vote by Parliament this week to back the Bill on invoking Article 50.
After a week of debate in the House of Commons, Parliament has voted overwhelmingly to give the Prime Minister consent to trigger Article 50 and get on with delivering a deal that works for Britain. Our Prime Minister has laid out her plan for Brexit, and given the clear mandate from the electorate in the EU referendum last June, it is important that the Government can start the negotiating process once the Bill has passed through the Lords.
The British people voted strongly in favour of our country leaving the European Union, and in my constituency of Great Yarmouth, they did so in large numbers. I believe it was right that we in Parliament voted to deliver on the will of the electorate, that is why I voted in favour of the Bill.
