The number of apprenticeships in Great Yarmouth has risen sharply over the last three years. The number of young people starting apprenticeships in the constituency has risen by 91% since the 2009/10 academic year. This figure is considerably higher than the already encouraging numbers for the East of England and England as a whole.
These figures are very good news for Great Yarmouth. Apprenticeships are one of the government’s priorities in order to get people into work and get the economy moving again. The fact that apprenticeship starts are on the rise proves that local businesses are taking on young people who will be equipped with the skills and training they need to launch their own careers. I will continue to encourage local businesses to offer apprenticeships and will work with schools to promote them.
