The number of people claiming unemployment benefits in Great Yarmouth has fallen by almost 20% since last year.
A total of 2,792 people claimed Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) in October 2013, compared to 3,458 in October 2012, representing a fall of 19.25%.
The news that unemployment has fallen yet again in Great Yarmouth, in line with the rest of the UK, is fantastic. The Governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney, has suggested that the UK’s economic recovery has ‘taken hold’ and these figures indicate that he is right. I shall continue to work with the Government to get our economy back on track and, as ever, make it clear to ministers and businesses that Great Yarmouth is open for business.
